Carrollton Police Department Launches Community Camera Registry to Fight Crime with Public-Private Partnerships

Carrollton, GA (August 7, 2024) – Carrollton Police Department is proud to unveil its latest initiative aimed at enhancing community safety: Carrollton Community Camera Partnership. This innovative, voluntary program invites Carrollton residents, businesses, and neighborhoods to register or integrate their security cameras, providing Carrollton Police with a valuable tool to investigate and deter crime.

The Carrollton Community Camera Partnership empowers citizens to contribute to crime prevention and investigation. By registering their cameras, individuals and businesses do not grant automatic access to live video streams or footage; instead, they simply inform Carrollton Police of the presence of surveillance cameras at their locations in the event of an incident.

Participants also have the option to integrate their live video streams directly into Carrollton Police Department’s system. This integration allows officers to access real-time video during emergencies or active situations, which enhances response times and ensures greater safety for both officers and the community. Importantly, data from privately-owned cameras remains under the control of the owner, with all police usage being meticulously tracked and logged.
