The Crime Scene/Evidence Unit is assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division under the direction of Captain Shannon Cantrell. The Crime Scene Unit is responsible for responding to crime scenes as quickly as possible. This unit is responsible for complex crime scene investigations, evaluation of the scene, and the use of various equipment. Crime scene technicians are trained in various fields of crime scene investigation which include, but are not limited to, photography, latent print development, documentation, and packaging of evidence.
The Carrollton Police Department Crime Scene Unit assumes a high degree of accountability for the highest quality crime scene investigative service possible. This accountability attaches not only to the actual processing of the crime scene, but includes all follow-up tasks.
